Evidence & Reasoning
P0174 Bank 2 Lean Condition40%
STFT B2 at +9.8% and LTFT B2 at +5.1% confirm a real lean condition on Bank 2. Combined fuel-trim correction of ~14.9% is consistent with a vacuum leak, weak injector, or intake gasket issue on Bank 2. The N74 V12 twin-turbo is essentially two inline-6 engines sharing a crankshaft — bank-isolated faults are very plausible.
P0307 Cylinder 7 Misfire35%
Cylinder 7 is on Bank 2 of the N74 V12. A misfire on a bank already running lean strongly suggests the lean is the root cause and cyl-7 is the most affected cylinder. Freeze frame: 3200 RPM / 68.2% load / 72 km/h — matches the customer complaint of stumble worsening under load.
P0430 Bank 2 Catalyst Below Threshold25%
Sustained lean misfires on Bank 2 push unburned charge into the cat, causing thermal stress and efficiency degradation. P0430 is very likely a secondary symptom of the lean/misfire — the cat may recover once the root cause is fixed, but could also be permanently damaged.
Verification Steps
1
Smoke-test the Bank 2 intake tract — intake gaskets, vacuum lines, PCV system, and turbo intercooler piping (Bank 2 is the rear / firewall-side bank on the N74).
2
Inspect cyl-7 ignition coil and plug — swap coil with a known-good cylinder on Bank 2 and check whether the misfire follows the coil.
3
Test cyl-7 fuel-injector flow rate vs adjacent Bank 2 injectors; check for clogged or leaking injector.
4
Compare Bank 2 MAF readings to Bank 1 at identical conditions — a contaminated or failing MAF on B2 can cause lean compensation.
5
Inspect Bank 2 turbocharger wastegate actuator and boost-pressure lines for leaks that drive lean conditions under load.
6
After resolving the lean / misfire root cause, clear codes and drive 2–3 cycles before condemning the cat — re-evaluate P0430 only if it returns with normal trims.
7
Check Bank 2 intake VANOS for variable valve timing faults — N74 VANOS issues can contribute to bank-isolated lean conditions.

The quiet liability

A missed ADAS recalibration can cost $200K to $1M.

Cameras, radars, and lane-keep systems need recalibration after routine repairs — and most shops don't know when. Misfire flags ADAS recalibration requirements on every diagnosis, so your techs catch liability before the car leaves the bay.

Pilot program rolling out now to the first 50 shops. General availability mid-2026. Early access gets you preferred onboarding and grandfathered pricing.
None, if you're pasting codes from your existing scan tool. If you want live vehicle connection, any OBD2 Bluetooth or wifi adapter works — no proprietary hardware, no rental, no contracts.
Those are shop-management and repair-info platforms. Misfire is a diagnostic copilot — it reads your scan data, cross-references real-world fixes, and gives you a cited root cause in seconds. It complements your existing stack; it doesn't replace it.
Your diagnoses stay yours. VINs and customer details aren't shared across shops. We store session data encrypted at rest; you can export or delete your history anytime.
